TAG: About Me

I was tagged by Beth at Beauty Marked to do the About Me Tag :) So here we go...

1. What is your favourite fashion magazine?

I am a magazine addict I buy any magaine I like the look of. Probably the ones I buy the most are Cosmopolitan, Glamour, More and Look.

2. Who is your favourite singer/band?

This is really a hard one!! I can't pick a favourite but the music I like the most is The Killers, The Courteeners, 30 Seconds to Mars and Oasis.

3. Who is your favourite youtube guru?

Oh my god I am addicted to YouTube beauty Gurus. The ones I watch the most are Steph (Topshopprincess0188), Fleur (Fleurdeforce), Laura (Lollipop26), Sara (SWalkerMakeup), Gemma (Gemsmaquillage) and Carolyn (MissPrincessPancake) - She is so funny and her videos are great!

4. What is your favourite makeup product?

My favourite make up product at the moment is my new no7 blush which I bought at the weekend. I have fallen instantly in love with is. It's in the colour Coral Flush and you can read about it in my no7 post.

I Wish, I Wish

Hey dolls hope you have all had a lovely Bank Holiday Weekend!! I've spent today strolling around the very sunny capital, Edinburgh. Shopping, sight-seeing and lunch with my boy :)
I got some lovely stuff from Lush which I will show you in a separate post very soon. I just wanted to share my wish list with you. Some items which I am planning on picking up very soon. Hope you enjoy.
The Body Shop Baked to Last Bronzer

The Body Shop have some amazing new make up products and these bronzers really caught my eye. Similar marbling and veining as the MAC MSFs but without the high end price tag. I shall be purchasing soooooon!!

Sleek I-Divine 12 piece Storm

I am loving the colours in this palette!! Great every day colours. I do not own any Sleek products but heard good things. My local Superdrug does not stock Sleek so I will need to perhaps purchase online.

I heart No.7

Morning everyone! Hope you are all having a lovely lazy Sunday.

I am currently having a very lazy morning and thought I'd share some purchases with you - from the comfort of my bed :)

I'm sure you all know that Boots are giving away their £5 off No.7 and Ruby and Millie vouchers at the moment. So, I popped in yesterday to see what I could get with mine.

I was really after a new foundation so after a look around the counter a I decided to opt for the Stay Perfect liquid foundation. I swatched a few but really couldn't decide which colour to take. Then appeared the lovely assistant Marilyn who was more than happy to help me out. She did a colour match for my face but we both agreed that none of the colours were really suitable to my skin tone - all too dark. Instead, she recommended I try the Intelligent Balance Mousse Foudation - £11 for 30g.

I had used a mousse foundation before - a long time ago - but I was a bit dubious I must admit. I am so used to my liquid foundations now I was feeling a bit out of my comfort zone. Marilyn applied it to my skin and WOW. It was the perfect match to my skin tone and left my skin feeling sliky smooth. I LIKE! My colour is number 30 - almond. I tried it out when I got home and I am extremely impressed. It makes my skin look flawless and its almost like velvet to the touch.

I also got a Natural Blush in number 12 Coral Flush. It's a beautiful pink with a hint of peach. It leaves a very pretty flush to the cheeks and is very soft and blendable. Nice worn as a small flash of colour to the cheeks for day time but can be built up to create a dramatic evening look.

Review: ELF mineral infused face primer

Hey lovelies hope you are all having a lovely Wednesday!!

I purchased the ELF face primer about a month ago and thought I'd share some thoughts with you.  To be honest I'd never really used a face prmer before so I don't have anything to compare it to. I ordered it from http://www.eyeslipsface.co.uk/ and it cost £6 for 14g.

Firstly the packaging. I think the packaging is very nice. It's in a white tube with a clear plastic outer package and it comes with a pump. I like this simple packaging. I think it looks very clean.

The product itself is a clear gel. It has a smell to it that I don't know how to describe. It's kind of plastic-y. I don't think the smell is completely unbearable but not something I enjoy rubbing on my face. Once it's dried in however, I can't smell anything.

Mini Boots Haul

Hey my pretties ♥

I did a quick trip to Boots on Saturday afternoon after a lovely pub lunch with my friendlings :)
I didn't get anything too exciting to be honest with you but I thought I'd share anyways.

I was desperately in need of some new Mascara. Now I dont know if I've mentioned before but I have pretty long lashes so to be honest with you I'm not particularly fussy about my mascara. I like one that has a good sized wand and that doesn't clump. That's all I ask. I picked up one from the 17 collection and it's called Maximum Volume. Now I can't remember exactly but it was priced between £4 and £5 and I'm extremely impressed. It does not clump at all and the wand is a very good size. Woo go me!!

Scrub a dub dub...

Hi Lovelies.

Just back from spending a perfect day with my boy at the beach. It's been soooo hot today so decided to make the most if it, we hardly ever get weather this good in Scotland. Here's a wee pic of us dipping our feet in the sea :)
bliss...

Anyways, this evening I wanted to share my thoughts on the new L'oreal Perfect Clean face wash. If you haven't heard of these yet here are the 3 available in the range:

       image from google

Nothing special right? Wrong.

The reason I was so attracted to this product is the unique scrublet that is attached to the packaging. The product I chose was the foaming gentle scrub which is the exfoliating one. The first this you notice when you open the packaging is the smell. Oh the smell...mmm. I don't know how the others smell but this is divine. It actually smells like you are smearing nectarines on your face. Very fresh and fruity.

My skin is a little hit and miss to be honest. Its either dry or oily and hardly ever in between so I do struggle to find products to suit my skin. I have been using it every day for almost 2 week. I love the deep clean it gives my skin and you can see any left over make up or dirt on the scrublet once you've washed. It's very gentle and does not feel like you are actually scrubbing your face. More like a pleasant massage. As for results, I've definately noticed a reduction in any dry patches I had on my face and my make up  is definately going on much smoother. I don't feel like it's done much for any oily patches I have, which are mainly on my forehead and nose.

I'm definately going to see this product out as I love the scent and the feeling of my face immediately after cleansing. And provided I'm not enticed by any other new product, once this is finished I will definately consider re-purchasing.

Let me know your thoughts on this product, or any other in the Perfect Clean line.

Hope you've all had a lovely sunny Sunday.

Ins and Outs - August 2010

Hey lovelies...

So instead of this being picture heavy, I'm just going to do a short and sweet in and out post this evening. Lets dive straight in...

*INS*

♥ Smooth, soft skin. Recently I've been all about the moisturising. Each evening after my bath I've been covering myself in Johnson's Dreamy Skin Relaxing Body Lotion. It has a lovely lavender scent, which is great for bedtime and great for my skin. On my feet I have been using Vaseline Feet and Legs Stimulating Lotion which is soo refreshing. It contains menthol and eucalyptus so feels very zingy when applied. I like feeling something working.

♥ Volumised hair. I am having a hair-mare at the moment. I'm growing out my bob which is causing me so much stress. My hair falls just on my shoulders at the moment meaning - hello flicky-out hair. So to combat this I've been curling my hair pretty much every day with my GHD's. Lots of mousse and hairspray and much back combing!!

♥ Pretty toe polish!! I love painting my tootsies and mixing it up each day. My two current faves are No7 stay perfect in Milan and Rimmel 60 seconds in Coralicious.

ELF Eyebrow Kit: Review

Hey kiddies :)

So as some of you eagle eyed lovelies might have noticed in the picture from my ELF haul, one of the products I recieved was ELF eyebrow kit. I didn't mention it at the time as I hadn't had the chance to try it out yet and wanted to give it a fair review.

My eyebrown are....how can I put it....UNRULY!!! They are shaped well but I have a few sparser areas, mainly the outer edges and the hairs themselves are actually quite long so tend to stick out in any old direction, depending on how I've slept (Not Attractive).
Anyways, short of trimming them, which is something that scares the hell outta me, I am always looking for something new to tame my wild brows.

I've tried a lot. Pencils, gels, vaseline, eyeshadows...etc so when I saw this on the ELF website I thought I'd give it a go. It was very reasonably priced at £3.50, so I had nothing to lose. I originally planned order this in the colour medium, but this was out of stock so opted for light. My eyebrows are brown but not too dark....

The kit itself comes in nice packagin, similar to any of the other ELF studio products. It has one powder section and one pigmented wax section and comes with a double ended application, one end an angled brush for the wax and the other, a soft brush for the powder.

My Summer Scent

HiHi

So this is just a quick post to tell you all about my favourite summer perfume at the moment.

I was running low on perfume and was looking for something light for summer. So I took a risk and ordered online. Heavily influenced by the celebrity endorsement and also by the pretty packaging, I opted for Sarah Jessica Parker NYC. I was slightly worried as I had no idea what it smelled like, but I can now say the risk paid off.

          image from google

NYC smells really sweet and fruity, but not sickly and that is definately my kind of fragrance. The fragrance I can smell from this perfume the most is definately strawberry. It smells yummy. The main notes in the perfume are "wild red strawberries, italian mandarin and white osmathus" which make it a lovely fruity fragrance. It lasts a long time but is not overwhelming. I have recieved many compliments on this. I paid £32 for a 60ml bottle which I think is very reasonable.

I have not tried any of the other SJP fragrances but based on this, and the fact I love Carrie Bradshaw, I would be definately tempted to try some of her others. Do you have any recommendations? Or, have you tried this product and have any views on it, good or bad?

Elf and Mac Haul

Hellooo girls.

So the past two days I've had a lovely package waiting for me when I've arrived from work. They were much anticipated and I couldn't wait to open them. Thought I'd share with you what I recieved:

Firstly, the ELF products:

Quite a collection...

I got 4 brushes....

From top to bottom - ELF professional total face brush, ELF professional foundation brush, ELF professional eye liner brush and ELF angled foundation brush.
So far I have used the foundation brush and the face brush. The foundation brush is really soft and smooth - no shedding on your face and it just blends your foundation in really well. A winner for me!! The face brush again does not shed and it really soft and fluffy. I have used this for both all over powdering and bronzing and so far I have had no problems. I will review these brushes again later to see how they stand the cleansing test...

I also got a clarifying pressed powder in the shade Honey and a tone correcting concealer also in Honey. I've only swatched the concealer and my first impressions are good. It blends well and leaves no sticky residue. It also smells really nice, which in my opinion, is a bonus.

Maybelline Pure Liquid Mineral

Hey guys!!!

Just thought I'd leave a post to let you know my favourite foundation of the moment....

I have been using this almost religiously for the past month and I must say its fast becoming a favourite. This is a medium coverage foundation but it goes on sooo light and smooth you hardly feel like you have any foundation on which I love. Its not at all cakey and leaves a gorgeous, dewy finish.

I use shade 030 in Sand. Its marketed as "Breathable foundation for a healthy and flawless look" and I have to agree. It blends in so well with your natural skin tone so you are not left with nasty "tide marks" around your neck and chin (yuk yuk yuk).

Has anyone else tried this? What are your faves at the moment??

Love Debs xx

Rimmel 60 Seconds

Hey Guys

So, I wanted to let you all know my thoughts on my two favourite summer nail polishes.

Taa daaaa.....

                                       excuse the bad lighting...

Firstly I'd like to say I love the new Rimmel brush applicators. Much wider which makes for a much easier and less streaky application. On smaller nails one stroke is enough to cover the full nail, whist thumb nails only take two or three strokes. I would say Grey Matter gives the best coverage. I can get away with one coat of this whilst Sky High requires two coats as the formulation seems slightly thinner.

I bought Grey Matter on the impression it might be a good dupe for Essie Chinchilly, however it is far lighter that the Essie and not quite so luxurious. Saying that I have recieved many compliments on the colour.

Sky High is just a lovely, fun, summery colour. There are loads of light blue nail polishes on the market and the moment and this shade happens to be my favourite.

Have you tried any of the other colours in this range? What's your opinions??
