Fishy Toes

Hey Darlings

Last week, during a busy day of Christmas shopping I decided to treat myself to a lovely fish pedicure. I'd read a lot about it, mixed reviews, and I wanted to try it out for myself. So I headed along to Appy Feet, in the St James Centre in Edinburgh.

If you've been living under a rock and not heard of this procedure, here's a little info taken from http://www.appyfeet.com/

The fish we use are original Garra Rufa also known as doctor fish, nibble fish or little dermatologist.
Although these little Minnow size fish have no teeth, they certainly have a big impact! When you immerse your feet into the warm water these curious little dermatologist will get to work by gently nibbling off any dead hard skin, leaving you pampered, healthy and glowing.

All over the world nibble fish centres are springing up and people are taking advantage of a totally organic pedicure. The fish will only work on unhealthy or dead skin, the healthy skin is left untouched.

Sounds good to me!

The ladies who greeted me were lovely, and I had to fill in a little form with my details and asked about any medical/skin conditions I may have. Then it was off to be prepared. I had to put on some crocs (sterilised between uses) and head over to the feet washing station. I then rinsed my feet under a little shower and then headed back to the foot spa area to dip my feet.

This was the scary bit. As you prepare to dip your feet into the water, the fish swarm below like they've not been fed in weeks, aaahhh. I gently lowered my feet in and they pounced. But it wasn't bad. It was a little ticklish to start with, then it settled into a strange but nice feeling. I have read the many descriptions of how it felt, and the one I relate to the most is pins and needles. Not uncomfortable or unpleasant, but odd. Something I believe you need to experience for yourself to understand.

I opted for a 15 minute session which cost me £10. I think this is really reasonable.
The fish really seemed to like my nail beds and the top of my feet, but I wish they'd concentrated more on the areas that needed it, like my heels. Once the session was over I was given a towel and some lotion to apply to my feet, and I was done.

Afterwards, my feet felt really nice and the areas the fish concentrated on felt super smooth. I'm definately going to return for another session, perhaps longer next time. It's a totally unique experience and I'd definately recommend it to those who are curious.

Have any of you guys tried the fish pedicure? Or does the idea totally gross you out? Let me know.

The Sanctuary Warming Charcoal Detox Mask

Hey my lovelies

Hope you are all getting nice and excited for Christmas! With only a few days to go I am finding it hard to contain my excitement. Now that all my shopping and wrapping is done, I only need to finish up work and I can enjoy the full extent of the festivities :)

With all my pennies having been spent on pressies and Christmas nights out, my weekend was spent quietly in the house. A little pampering session included a lovely Lush bath and I decided to use my Sanctuary 5 minute warming charcoal detox mask.

This sample was given to me by Fei at Peonies and Lilies in one of her giveaways a while back, but this was me only just getting round to using it.

This is a self heating mask which is supposed to balance oily and blemish prone skin.
As soon as I squeezed the product into my hands I could feel it heating up immediately so quickly spread it out over my face, avoiding my eyes.

The mask contains Kaolin Clay which absorbs excess oil and draws impurities out of the skin, and essential oils of Myrrh (Christmassy!) which soothes and calms the skin.

I left it on for 5 minutes as the instructions told me to do then rinsed my face with warm water. Afterwards my skin felt really soft, but looked a little red. I guess this was just to do with the heat as my skin did not feel sore or irritated in any way. Anyways, after I'd cooled down I could feel how smooth my face was, and not oily. The next morning my face still felt the same and I'd had no nasty reactions or breakouts. I'd definately consider repurchasing either a sample or full sized tube of the product, which retails at £9.99 for 100ml.

Have any of you guys tried this face mask?

Christmas ELF

Hey Guys

I got a little package from ELF the other day thought I would share the goodies.

Firstly, I need to confess to my stupidity.
I posted here last week about how you could get a free 100 shadow eye pallette when you spent over £18. BUT stupid me forgot to add the code, so no eyeshadows for me! Doh!

Anyways, here's what I got.

Studio Bronzer in Golden Bronzer - £3.50
High Definition Powder £6.00
Nail Polish in Maude Mauve
Shimmering Facial Whip in Toasted £1.50

I also got a lipstick and a blusher for my mum but she skipped off merrily with her goodies before I could photograph them!!

So far I am liking the look of these products but have not yet had a chance to proper test them out. The facial whip is slightly darker than the website made out so I may need to reconsider how I'll use it. Any ideas? Once I've tried them out properly I shall come back to let you know.

Did any of you guys take advantage of the free 100 piece eyeshadow pallette? What do you think?

L'Oreal Superliner

Hey Guys.

I don't know if you are aware but at the moment if you spend over £15 on L'Oreal make up in Boots you get a lovely free gift! My mum recently treated herself to some new foundation and recieved the gift, so I was straight in there to see what I could find...

I think it's really good value as you actually recieve 3 full size products, along with some other samples. The full size products are Glamshine 6hr lipgloss, Chrome shine eyeshadow and Superliner liquid eyeliner.

So here is the liner. It's in the colour black, and it's now mine!
My mum doesn't really wear liquid liner so kindly said I could have it.
The tip is really fine, but quite sturdy. I find it really easy to use and create a smooth, fine line. I ofter find liquid liners too wet and messy but not this. It has a long lasting finish and it's definately one of my top freebies of the year!!

Have any of you guys tried this? Or do you swear by another liquid liner? Let me know.

All I Want For Xmas Is Lush

Hello Gorgeous

I've been a terrible blogger this past week, so I must start with an apology! I've two excuses. The first is I have been rushed off my feet. With the snow, I hardly had any time to pick up the final bits and pieces for Christmas, so whilst it's gone I've been making the most of it. Secondly, for a time I had a horrible bug and just was not feeling up to it. But I'm here now! Yay I hear you call...!?

Anyways, on my travels I picked up some Lush. I think cold, winter nights are the perfect reason for a Lush bath, but then who needs an excuse??

Here's what I got...

Twilight Bath Ballistic
Lil Lush Pudding Bath Ballistic
Gingerbread House Bubble Bar

I actually bought two Twilights but used one as soon as I got in from my long day shopping. I think it's my new favourite and I don't want to use my other one in case I don't get to the shops soon. That's what my life has become. Hoarding my Lush products cos I don't want to run out!

I'm going to use half the gingerbread house tonight with a glass of wine and some candles. Oh I cannot wait.

Have you guys been having a Lush Christmas?

I Want, I Want...

Good evening girlies.

Hope you've all had a lovely snowy weekend!!

Due to being stuck in because of the snow I have taken to online shopping and whilst perusing the web, I've come across these little beauties.

Nails Inc Crystallised Collection.

As well as the colours being gorgeous, who can resist a bit of bling? I adore these beautiful crystal encrusted bottle caps.

The set includes 3 polishes;
L-R
Saville Row - a beautiful deep plum
Caviar - A 45 second top coat
Elizabeth Street - a light, nude cream.

It also includes a vitamin E cuticle oil pen to moisturise and hydrate cuticles.

This set retails at £50, which is a little expensive for 3 nail polishes, but I definately think this would make a lovely gift for someone this Christmas.

What do you guys think of the bling??

No7 Shine Free Primer

Hey Dolls

Woo hoo it's the weekend! How cold is it? Although it seems like we are the only ones who do don't have snow yet. Thank goodness. I love to look at it, very pretty, but I hate the disruption it causes. No matter how I feel though, it's on it's way...

I used my most recent No7 £5 voucher to purchase No7 Shine Free Primer.

This product promises to stop that moment when you look in the mirror about 3pm and your face looks like a chipshop! It has a mattifying oil free base and light reflecting particles to help disguise fine lines and particles. It also contains watermelon and cucumber extracts which will help to soothe and cool your skin.
The only other primer I'd tried was the ELF fasce primer and I found that this had little or no affect on my make up's staying power what so ever. So I was keen to try something else which would make a differece.

The formulation is a thick, pearlescent white lotion, but it rubs in quite easily. I do find that it leaves the skin feeling a bit tacky for a minute or two so I wait til that feeling is gone before I apply my foundation. I'm not really keen on the smell, but once this is rubben in there is no trace of this. The foundation applies smoothly over the top of the primer.

The results?

Well I have noticed that it keeps my face matte for a much longer time, I don't get the shiny forehead and nose so early in the day and when it does appear it is lessened by this product. Hoorah!
I can't say I have noticed it minimising blemishes, but that's not what I bought the product for. I definately recommend this face primer and will be repurchasing.

Have any of you guys tried this? Or do you have a HG primer that you would never cheat on?

What I'm Ratin' November 10

Hey Guys!

Happy Wednesday! Hope you are all having a lovely week. Mine's has been hectic, but fun! I have been organising fundraising events for Children in Need at work on Friday. We've gone dotty with the spotty theme and we're having leg waxing and wet sponging. All FUN, FUN, FUN! Are you guys doing anything crazy for CIN?

Anyways, I've decided to let you know "What I'm Ratin'" this week...

1. Herbal Essences Seductively Straight Heat Protection Intensive Cream.
I've been using this product daily on my towel dried hair to help protect from heat damage when drying. I've just got a new dryer which is really quite hot, even on the medium setting, so this is doing a great job. It also smells divine and does not leave a residue im my hair when dry.

2. Hoola by Benefit.
I've been loving using this for a subtle glow. I hate wearing shimmery bronzer in daytime, especially in winter so this gives me the gorgeous bronzed look without being OTT.

3. Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion.
I used to use this about two years ago, and when I won this in a recent blog giveaway I could not for the life of me remember why I stopped. It's been tackling my dry patches splendidly.

4. Avon Advance Techniques Moiusture Sleek Smoothing Serum.
I've been using this wonder product on the ends of my hair a few times a week for ages now. It helps protect my ends, seals any split ends and adds immense shine. It's scent is also gorgeous.

5.Sleek Makeup Pout Polish in Pink Cadillac.
This is the first Sleek product I tried and I am in love with the colour.

It applies almost as bright as it shows in the picture and has a lovely coconutty smell. It also contains SPF15 so helps protect my smackers from the (occasional) winter sun.

What have you guys been Ratin' recently?

Ins and Outs - November 2011

Hey Guys!

Hope you are all having a lovely weekend. Just thought I'd share a little post with my current "ins and outs".

INS

Christmas - Let me just start by saying I am incredibly excited about Christmas and the shopping has commenced this weekend. Ahh it's coming sooo quick. Safe to say there will be many posts featuring Xmas in weeks to come.

Cosy nights in - Not just because I'm boring (hehe) but because I'm trying to save and there's lots of good TV at the moment and nothing's better than dinner and a bottle of wine on the couch on a Saturday night. In fact, that's what I'm doing right now!

Palmer's Cocoa Butter - I'm loving this moisturising lotion at the moment. I find it's one of the few moisturisers that really do soften and smooth dry skin. I use it all day on my hands but I also like it on my legs and feet. And the smell is yummy.

OUTS

Unpredictable Weather - I can handle the cold, I can handle the wind and I can just about handle the rain. But all 3 together? No thanks. And then you've kitted yourself out in hat, scarf, wooly jumper and gloves and the sun comes out? Make up your mind mother nature!!!

Red Hair - Now this might be controversial. I'm not having a dig at anyone with natural red hair, or anyone with red hair at all. It just seems one day Cheryl Cole is on TV with red hair then the next day the whole world had red hair. I like it, I really do, but it's a bit boring when everyone has it.

Scraping my car - I doubt I really need to explain this any further. All I have to say is "bleugh"!

Hope you all enjoy the rest of the weekend. Let me know if you share any the same ins and outs.

Favourite Autumn/Winter Nail Polishes

Hey Ladies

Hope you are all having a lovely week.

I wanted to do a little post to show you my favourite Autumn/Winter polishes. Now these are the polishes that I personally have been wearing for the past month. It seems I am a little purple crazy at the moment but I love these polishes each in their own way.

L-R
Rimmel Pro Lycra in 406 Purple Addict
No7 Stay Perfect in Milan
Maybelline Forever Strong in 05 Extreme Blackcurrent
Barbara Daly in Plum Pudding.

A plethora of purples.

I'll start with the Rimmel polish. I am a big fan of their nail polishes. I love the big applicator brushes and I love their wide variety of colours. This colour is truly gorgeous and also the brightest of the four. I like this polish because I can get about 3 to 4 days wear out of it before it is completely chipped.

Next, No7. This polish really does give you disco nails. I love how glittery it is, but not chunky glittery. It is very eye catching and I have to say this is my favourite of the bunch. Looks lovely on toes as well.

The Maybelline polish is the one I've had the longest and as these darker and colder months approach I always find myself reaching for it. It's really dark, almost black. And I like that. I like that you have to glance twice at it to check if it is actually black or not. One or two days before chipping occurs though, and on a colour this dark, it's not a good look.

Finally, Barbara Daly for Tesco. I was first attracted to this polish by the name. Plum Pudding. Yum. And then of course the colour. This was the first Barbara Daly polish I had tried and I am in love with the colour. The only downside is that it did chip after one day but it was a nice consistency to apply so I didn't mind touching up.

What colours are you guys adorning your pretty talons with this Winter?

Hair Dilemma - Help

Hola Ladies

Just a quick post, I'm stuck! I'm having my hair cut today and I'm in a total quandry. Long or short?

Last year I had my hair in a pretty little bob, which I loved. It was easy to manage, made my fine hair look thicker and looked good. But I found I couldn't do much with it and I had to style it everyday as it was too short to be tied back. Here's how it looked..

So since March, I have been growing it out and it's now well past shoulder length. You can see my current hair length in my Girly Weekend post from a couple of weeks ago.
I am now stuck as I have spent 8 months going through that awkward inbetween lenght so I can have long girly hair, but now I have it I don't know what to do with it. As it's so fine it can often look a bit lack lustre and I have been embracing the wavy, curly, backcombed look, which I do like as well.

Soo please, your input would be very much appreciated.

Long or Short?

Dear Santa...

Evening Ladies ♥

Having spent today in bed ill, I've had plenty chance to think about the items I shall be hoping to see in my Christmas stocking this year :)

Firstly I've had my eye on one of these watches since seeing it in Fleur De Force's birthday video.

Toy Watch in Black.

I think this is soo pretty. I like how it's cute but quite masculine. I like the bright colours as well but for me, black is going to be the best option.

Chanel Coco Mademoiselle.

This is my favourite perfume EVER and my boyfriend has gotten  me a bottle of this every year since we've been together so fingers crossed he doesn't break tradition this year. A 50ml bottle has lasted me all year because I only like to wear this on special occasions when I am going out with my boy. Definately not for everyday wear. PLUS...I love the tv advert for this with Kiera Knightley... ♥

Urban Decay Naked Palette.

I'm a bit late on this bandwagon right? I don't know why but I never got round to getting this when it came out, and now with all these Christmas presents I will be buying, I guess it will just have to go on my list.

Suede and Leather Mix Handbag - River Island.

I really need a new everyday black bag, and I like 'em big. I spotted this one on the RI website and it fits my criteria beautifully...

Honestly, I've been a very good girl this year so I'm hoping to be on Santa's "Nice" list :)

What are you guys hoping to find in your stockings this year?

Superdrug Body Butter

Hey Girlies

I just wanted to mention a product I picked up a few weeks back in Superdrug. I've been going mad for moisturisers and body butters in the past couple of months and I am accumulating quite the collection. One little star in the collection has to be the Superdrug body butters.
These were priced £3.65 each, or, wait for it, 2 for £4!!!!!!!

I picked up two and to be honest I wasn't expecting to be dazzled. But I was. My favourite of the two has to be the Plum and Red Cherry, which is gorgeous. The scent is sooo long lasting I kept getting a whiff of it, and it made my bed sheets smell beautiful too.

So I made the obvious comparison between these and the Body Shop's Body Butters. The main difference I found was consistency. These aren't as thick as the Body Shop's, but I didn't find this a problem. In fact, the Superdrug's butter was silky smooth and my skin absorbed it quite quick. I prefer the smell of the Body Shop's cocoa butter but of them all the plum and red cherry wins my vote. As for the price, it's a total steal. I'm off to apply some now...

Have you guys tried Superdrug's version or are you Body Shop loyal?

Operation Christmas Child

Hey lovelies xx

I know this is way off my usual subject of ramblings but I thought I'd take a little time to let you all know about a charity appeal I am very much looking forward to participating in this year.

Operation Christmas Child.

Operation Chirstmas Child is a wonderful Chirstmas appeal to help the most needy children at this time of year, supported by the Samaritan’s Purse, a Christian relief and development charity working amongst communities in need in 18 countries across Africa, Eastern Europe and Central Asia. It involves filling up a shoebox with some lovely gifts and sending them off overseas to make a little girl or boys life a little brighter. You pack and wrap and the charity checks and sends. Simple.

This year the shoebox appeal will be delivering presents to children in the following countries.

Azerbaijan    Belarus    Bosnia    Kenya    Kosova    Kyrgyzstan    Liberia    Montenegro    Mozambique    Romania    Serbia    Swaziland    Ukraine    Zimbabwe.

If you would like to find out more about this very worth while Christmas appeal then you can visit the website:

Thanks for reading guys.

Holy Grail Hair Product...

Hello Girlies ♥

Hope you all had a lovely weekend!

Just thought I'd leave a quick post to share my HG hair product.

Aussie Miracle Hair Insurance.

I use regular conditioner around once or twice a week. As I've said I have fine hair and conditioner tends to not only weigh it down and make it lank if overused, but also make it far too soft to work with. Basically not great. So I picked up this little beauty. At first I was worried. Would a leave in conditioner be even worse? But I was curious. So I tried. And I liked.

First off the smell. Aahhh that smell. If you've used it you'll know what I mean. I can't describe or liken it to anything, all I know is it's exquisite.

I spray this on towel dried hair every morning before blowdrying. It detangles very well.
It contains jojoba seed oil which helps to protect my locks. I love the way it makes my tresses feel. Silky smooth without being weighed down. And that beautiful smell lasts all day.

I've been using this product everyday for about two months now and am suitably impressed!

Also, I love the Aussie Philosophy...
"There's more to life than hair, but it's a good place to start!"

What's your favourite Aussie product?

The Quest For The Perfect Foundation Continues...

Hey Girls!

Hope you're all doing great!! Half way through the week! Phew!

With the temperatures dropping and Mr Jack Frost making an appearance, the old face has been taking a kicking! I'd happy been using my No7 intelligent balance foundation on a daily basis when my skin started to get really dry. Mainly around my nose and forehead, and the look of the mousse foundation sticking to the dry ares was NOT a good look. So I needed to find a good alternative quick!

I popped down to Debenhams a fortnight ago and perused the make up department for ageees (my boyfriend will vouch for this!) and eventually I decided on Clinique supermoisture.

Designed to combat very dry to dry combination skin, I was very hopeful this would do the trick. And it did. The formulation is very moisturisting and takes to my skin very well. It also leaves your skin really dewy looking as it contains an extremely subtle hint of glitter. I find that I can wear it all day and does not give me that "caked" appearance on the drier areas of my face.

The only downside I can find to this foundation is the coverage it provides. It has a sheer to moderate coverage, edging closer to sheer. This is fine for a daily basis as I often like a light coverage for work and for through the day, but I find when I am heading out at night time I am mixing it with a higher coverage foundation so I can achieve a more flawless appearance. Not a huge problem for me, although I would not recommend this to you girlies who like your full coverage fix.

What are your thoughts on Clinique foundations, and have any of you guys tried this?

MAC Venomous Villians

Hey Cherubs!

Hope you are all having a spiffing weekend! I've had a rather lazy weekend, but after a busy week at work I can justify it!

I know I'm late in sharing this with you all but just wanted to show you guys the 2 items I picked up from the Venomous Villians collection from MAC. After looking at the swatches some of the girls had posted from the launch party (lucky bums!!) I concluded there was only one "must have" product which was the Bite of an Apple blush, but when it came to ordering, I couldn't resist sneaking in a pretty little lipglass too.

Firstly, I love the blush. The picture doesn't do the colour any justice. The pink is so bright, almost neon! I love how it applies to my cheeks and it's so buildable. This is definately a winner and I'm very glad I managed to grab it before it sold out on the website.
The lipglass is "strange potion". As I said I hadn't planned on getting anything else, but I didn't own a MAC lipgloss (travesty, I know) so hey ho popped one in my shopping cart. I'm very pleased I did. I love the colour it's a very orangey pink, and very pretty. Just the right amount of stickyness too! I doubt it will be long before I'm the proud owner of more than one lipglass!

Did you guys manage to get what you wanted before it sold out? Any other lipglass recommendations?

Hooray for Halloween!

Morning Girlies!

I'm so excited that my second favourite time of year is nearly here (Christmas 1st obv!). Every year, one of my friends organises a big charity party in one of our local pub and there's lots of fun and frolics.

The most important part is, of course the costume.

I had initially seen a really cool peacock costume and I was so excited about getting it and my head was buzzing about the different make up looks I could create with it. Anyways, I ended up not getting it after reading that the website would not give a refund if the product was unsuitable. Straight away that put me off.

So I trawled around a bit further and have found my costume. It arrived on Monday and I love love LOVE it!

I am going to be a glamorous 20's flapper girl. :)
I also ordered this wig to create the look.

I' so excited to wear my costume. I've also been googling and youtube-ing various different make up looks. If you guys can suggest any good links to some looks I'd greatly appreciate it.

What are your plans for Halloween this year ladies?

Yay It's Autumn

Evening Beauts ♥

Sorry for the lack of blogging lately as you know I was off to St Andrews at the weekend for a few nights and I've just had a terribly busy week! Thank goodness it's nearly the weekend!

Anyway, I believe I have mentioned this before, but I looove Autumn. It's a great season. I love wearing boots and coats and snuggly jumpers! I picked up a few items before my weekend away and thought I'd share them with you.

Grey pinafore dress - Primark

I love this dress. I wore it in St Andrews over tights and a black long sleeved top with black boots. It's quite thick so it's warm and I love the military style buttons on the front and on the faux pockets. And at £13, this is a complete steal!

Grey knitted dress - Next

I picked up this gorge winter woolie on a little trip to Next. They have some really beautiful pieces just now. The dress is made from lambswool and angora and is totally cosy. It also has a very pretty tiara brooch attached which I think adds a bit of girliness :) This is priced at £38.

Black Studded Boots & Printed Scarf - Primark

I always seem to get my little black ankle boots from Primark. They're great value for £15 and always seem to wear quite well. They're very versitile and go with almost anything. Plus, if they get ruined, who cares, just head back and pick up another!!
The pretty scarf is another of my Autumn staples. It looks great with almost anything and adds a bright yet cosy touch to any outfit!

Have you guys been sorting out your Autumn wardrobe?
